KQT Aikens Partners 2, a Delaware County investor group, has completed the purchase of the former Springfield Hospital for $1 million, according to KQT leader Todd Strine.
The deal was secured on Tuesday. The hospital is the last of Crozer Health’s four hospitals to be sold in bankruptcy liquidation proceedings of Prospect Medical Holdings Inc., writes Harold Brubaker for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Strine’s group also owns Crozer’s Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, which it also bought for $1 million.
The group’s goal is to return medical services to both hospitals.
“Investing in Springfield Hospital is the next step in our commitment to Delco’s health and well-being,” Strine said. “We need to heal the wounds that have been inflicted by the closure of four of our county’s six hospitals.”
Strine is also the majority owner of medical transport company Keystone Quality Transport in Springfield.
Local tax authorities, including Springfield Township and the Springfield School District, have agreed to assess the Springfield Hospital property at the sale price for a limited amount of time, Strine said.
Jeff Rudolph, president of the Springfield Board of Commissioners, said the township is looking forward to working with the Strine family in developing the hospital, hoping for “good things” for the property.
