There’s now a vinyl record out there capturing the Sounds of Delco, and it will be available soon at The Greatest Hits record and book store in Media, reports National Today.
The South Jackson Street record shop produced the nearly 100-track record that offers Delaware County’s unique sounds.
Delco’s greatest sound hits vary from a man stuck holding a door at Wawa, and a customer complaint at a hair salon, to an audio medley at Linvilla Orchards.
Shop Manager Jesse Gennett and co-workers put together field recordings and studio productions for the album.
“There’s like [a] Linvilla Medley, there’s Swiss Farms, there’s some Wawa stuff. And it’s all like stuff that if you’re from here, you know about it,” said Gennett.
The goal is to preserve the unique identity and character of Delaware County with iconic sounds that represent the local culture and community, which local listeners will instantly recognize.
For future generations, the album serves as a time capsule preserving this point in time in Delaware County.
The Greatest Hits record store staff came up with ideas for the tracks, curated the sounds, and wrote scripts
The ‘Sounds of Delco’ album will be released on May 15, 2026. It’s available now for pre-order.
