Comcast Spectacor and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment has announced the exact location of the new arena that will be shared by the Sixers, Flyers, and the city’s new WNBA expansion team, writes Tom Dougherty for CBS News Philadelphia.
The new arena will be constructed in the southeast corner of Broad Street and Pattison Avenue, where the old Spectrum once stood.
According to a spokesperson, the construction timeline is about three years. The hope is for the city’s new WNBA team debut at the new arena in 2030.
Once the new arena is built, Xfinity Mobile Arena, which opened in 1996, will be demolished.
Comcast and HBSE initially announced its plans to build a new shared arena in January 2025.
The announcement came after the Sixers’ plans to build a new arena in Market East in Center City ultimately fell apart.
Comcast Spectacor owns a minority stake in the Sixers, and also owns naming rights for the new arena.
