Pinball, Fortnite, and Fresh Brews: A Family-Friendly Brewery Is Coming to Springfield

Matt and Stephanie Courchain, co-owners of Battle Royale Brewing Co. in Springfield are combining brews and a retro arcade.

The husband and wife team of Matt and Stephanie Courchain are opening a retro arcade and brewery in Springfield known as the Battle Royale Brewing Co., writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The couple is investing between $300,000 and $350,000 in the brewery, which will feature arcade games, in-house brews, and Nintendo Switch stations.

Matt Courchain is a homebrewer who enjoys arcade games with his children. His daughter plays Fortnite. His son gets in time every morning before school on one of the eight pinball machines in their home.

Battle Royale will be a family-friendly brewery.

“A brewery is much better than a bar. It’s a different kind of vibe. I just felt like it would be something everyone could enjoy throughout the generations,” Matt said.

The microbrewery/arcade will debut at 21 E. Springfield Road sometime this summer.

It will offer beer, seltzer, and non-alcoholic beverages made in-house, with customer access to a variety of digital and arcade games.

Courchain, who has a background in construction and hospitality, hopes to attract young parents who have moved to the suburbs to start their families.
