According to Wawa superfans, many shoppers waste their rewards points on low-value redemptions while better options go untapped, writes Emily Bloch for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Aaron Fisher, a music producer from Delaware and longtime Wawa enthusiast, began paying closer attention to the popular Delaware County convenience store’s rewards program after he was laid off in late 2024.
“That’s when I started getting more strategic,” he said.
He started by calculating how much gas he would need to make redeeming rewards worthwhile. Next, he examined Wawa’s other redeemable rewards to see which offered the greatest value.
Unable to find any guide online, he created his own. He then shared his work in a publicly available Google Sheet called the “Wawa Rewards Optimizer Guide,” which lists every item redeemable through Wawa Rewards along with its cost and point value.
He observed that redeeming points for gas offers “absolutely abysmal” savings. One of the best options, he found, is the built-to-order breakfast burrito, which costs $5.89 or 500 points.
Among other findings, the soft pretzel ranks as the worst overall value at $1.29 and is redeemable for 350 points, while the kid’s meal is the top pick, priced at $6.69, which is available for 500 points.
