Delco Swimmers Bring Home 5 Medals From PIAA Class 3A Championships

Delaware County swimmers took five medals in the PIAA swim competition.

Delaware County swimmers manage to deliver a strong performance at the PIAA Class 3A Championships, earning five medals, including four for girls and one for boys, writes Matthew DeGeorge for the Daily Times.

On the girls’ side, Springfield’s Addyson Despeaux earned a silver medal on the second day of competition, posting a 54.96 in the morning and a 55.02 in the final to secure second place. The result marks a significant improvement from last year, when she finished ninth in the same event.

Caroline Whitney of Haverford earned a bronze medal, breaking five minutes for the first time with a 4:56.58 in the morning, which improved to 4:54.04 in the final.

Penncrest’s Morgan Peterson finished fourth in the 100 free in 50.99 seconds, her best time by over a half-second, earning her first medal.

Radnor earned a medal in the 400 free relay, finishing seventh in prelims with a 3:31.79 before posting a 3:33.24 in the final to place eighth.

On the boys’ side, Garnet Valley sophomore Aaron Neville was the lone medalist, recording a 50.29 in the final for eighth place.
