Eastern University has appointed Jeffrey Libson and Benjamin Rogers to its Board of Trustees.

Libson is a recently retired corporate attorney whose career has focused on the entrepreneurial Life Sciences area. He spent the majority of his career at Pepper Hamilton in Philadelphia, where he chaired its National Life Sciences practice, and the last decade as a Partner at Cooley LLP, where he was a member of its Global Life Sciences leadership team.

Additionally, Libson taught Health Care/Life Sciences entrepreneurship at the Wharton Business School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and English from Oberlin College and a law degree from Duke University. Libson is an integral part of the Life Sciences industry in the Philadelphia region, having shepherded many entrepreneurs through their startup, growth, and buyout phases.

“Eastern’s mission of faith, reason, and justice deeply resonates with me,” he said. “Throughout my career, I have been committed to mentoring and supporting innovators, and I am excited to bring that same spirit of service to Eastern as it continues to grow and thrive.”

Rogers is a Senior Vice President, Corporate Banking Relationship Manager at Citizens Bank. Previously, he served as International Relationship Manager at HSBC and Commercial Relationship Manager at Truist Bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Richmond.

Rogers has been associated with Eastern for his entire life. His grandmother, Virginia Walton Baird, was the daughter of the original owner of the Walmarthon Estate, which is now Eastern’s campus. Both Rogers’s father and grandfather spent their careers raising money for Eastern.

“Joining Eastern’s Board of Trustees is incredibly meaningful to me,” he said. “My family has long been dedicated to Eastern’s vision and mission, and I am honored to continue their legacy as a committed member of the Eastern community.”

Both of the new appointees are dedicated fathers, engaged members of their churches, and active in the community. Libson has also served as a trustee on several other boards, including the Sabin Vaccine Institute, Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Friends’ Central School, and more. Rogers has served on the boards of the Benchmark School, Camp Agawam, and the Association for Corporate Growth

“We are thrilled to welcome Jeff Libson and Ben Rogers to our Board of Trustees,” said Eastern President Dr. Ronald Matthews. “Eastern is at a critical moment in its 100-year history and is positioned for tremendous growth and success. It is crucial that we bring the right people in to help steer the ship, and these new appointments do just that.”

With their remarkable blend of professional excellence and faith-based passion for community service, Libson and Rogers are poised to play a key role in shaping Eastern’s flourishing future.
