To capture their final moments together, a Springfield family turned to end-of-life pet photography for their beloved furry best friend, Momma Wiggles, writes Joe Holden for CBS News Philadelphia.
Shelby Crowding has shared many meaningful moments with Momma Wiggles over the years, many of which came rushing back earlier this week as it became time to say goodbye.
“She taught me patience,” said Crowding. “She taught me forgiveness. She taught me how to love.”
The doggo has turned 12 and is deaf.
“Momma came from a very bad past,” said Crowding. “She was abandoned.”
Last week, the vet delivered difficult news to Crowding and her husband, Rob, explaining that there was little they could do for their pet beyond keeping her comfortable.
They chose to document her final moments with the help of photographer Matt Gruber.
“It’s a beautiful thing you can do, being a photographer,” said Gruber.
Cheeseburgers, a favorite pink pearl collar, and shared memories shaped the session. Surrounded by warmth and love, Momma Wiggles was comforted, leaving the family with photographic memories to cherish.
“I love her so much,” said Crowding. “I’m really going to miss her. She is that once-in-a-lifetime dog.”
