Get to Know Coatesville’s Johnny Weir’s Figure Skating Legacy Ahead of TV Show Debut

Take a look at Johnny Weir’s skating achievements Image via Sam McElwee, Peacock., Olympic history, and transition to broadcasting, ahead of his 'The Traitors' appearance.

Johnny Weir, the American figure skater turned television personality, is drawing attention again with his inclusion on Peacock’s The Traitors Season 4, writes Russell Steinberg for Us Magazine

A native of Coatesville, Weir became one of America’s most recognizable figure skaters, winning three consecutive U.S. National Championships from 2004 to 2006 and going on to earn medals at the World Championships and Grand Prix Finals before representing the U.S. at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics.

Weir’s skating was notable not just for its athleticism but for style and personality, helping him become one of the sport’s most recognizable figures. After retiring from competition, he forged a second career in broadcasting as a lead figure skating analyst for NBC, often alongside fellow Olympic champion Tara Lipinski.

Off the ice, Weir has expanded his presence into media and entertainment. His commentary work has brought figure skating to broader audiences, and his outspoken persona continues to spark discussion among fans and critics alike.

Now, Weir brings that same bold personality to reality television as a cast member on The Traitors season 4, introducing him to a broader audience beyond the rink.
