The big, iconic bows we see adorning cars in commercials and decorating homeowners’ front doors during the holidays are actually made locally in Warminster, reports staff for 6abc.
At the Car Bow Store, the manufacturer receives large plastic rolls that are cut into strips, glued together, assembled into bows, and then shipped out across the country.
The company is a subsidiary of MBR Marketing and has been in business for over 40 years.
While the ribbons see a bump in sales around the holidays in November and December, according to the owner, Michael Rudolph, they’re busy throughout the year.
“We sell them every day of the year. They’re not just a holiday bow. I guess Lexus commercials spurred on business quite a bit for the holidays, but we sell these all year round,” said Rudolph.
Initially, the company imported bows, but their poor quality led them to switch to making their own.
The bows are available in a variety of colors, materials, and sizes, the largest at 30 inches.
At the height of production, the manufacturer produced 25,000 bows in a year, but they currently produce between 15,000 and 17,000 annually.
“As with everything with the business, it’s gratifying. It’s rewarding. Every time you do something, and people will tell us they’re the nicest bows they’ve seen,” he said.
