Director of Food and Beverage

Freedom Village at Brandywine is seeking a Director of Food and Beverage. This is a salaried position with an annual pay range of $105,000 to $110,000.

The Food and Beverage Director is responsible for direct oversight of the front and back of the house operations of the food and beverage program on the campus in consultation with a Dietitian. He or she ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity by all members of the food and beverage service team. 

Responsibilities of this position:

  • Maintain established dietary standards and policies, and assist the Dietitian in establishing and revising dietary policies and procedures.
  • Interview salespeople and purchase food and supplies, check incoming food and supplies, and direct storage location and procedures.
  • Record department costs, maintain the inventory system, and regularly check storage areas for the stock levels of staple items.
  • Prepare menus for distribution, including processing diet changes, checking that menus for patients on special diets or with dietary restrictions comply with physicians’ orders, identifying menus (normal diets and special diets), and planning meals accordingly.
  • Direct duties of Cook, etc., as required. Check special diet trays.
  • Plan and assist in the preparation of special meals for parties, banquets, etc.
  • Assure efficiency of food preparation and serving; compliance with local, state, and federal standards; sanitation, hygiene, and health standards of personnel.
  • Oversee the selection, training, evaluation, and disciplining of all dietary personnel.
  • Review and maintain required records and reports covering (a) number and kinds of regular and therapeutic diets, (b) prepared nutritional and caloric analyses of meals, costs of raw food and labor, (c) computation of daily meal costs, (d) inventory of equipment and supplies, and (e) develops and directs department cost control procedures.
  • Delegate authority to supervisory staff for task details to facilitate the smooth flow of materials and services.

Qualifications for this position:

  • Degree or certificate within the food service industry.
  • Supervisory/management experience of at least 2 years within the food service industry.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Can generate a warm, friendly, and caring manner on first impression.
  • Can communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Can pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Part-Time Registered Nurse

Freedom Village at Brandywine is hiring an RN to work part-time, every other weekend, 7 AM-3 PM, in its skilled nursing facility. The starting range for RN’s is $40/hr plus shift differential. **Actual salary may fall outside of the posted salary range as it is dependent on skills and experience.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of medications, treatments, documentation, and emergency call lights inside the skilled nursing center.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medication and treatments to residents of our healthcare center.
  • Assist with the admission and discharge process.
  • Keep the physician and family aware of changes in the resident’s condition.
  • Make rounds with physicians and transcribe orders.
  • Assure continuity of services and care.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Registered nurse with a current license in the community’s state.
  • 6 months of experience in geriatric nursing/ Long Term Care. 
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Can generate a warm, friendly, and caring manner on first impression.
  • Can communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Freedom Village at Brandywine is recruiting for a hospitality-focused Sous Chef to join its team. This position is responsible for full-scope, hands-on production cooking in the Community Culinary Services Department. 

Qualifications for the position:

  • Minimum of one year of restaurant/senior living or equivalent cooking experience.
  • High school diploma.
  • Culinary degree preferred.
