Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley now has his own signature hoagie at Wawa and for a limited time, you can give it a try, writes Ariel Simpson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The signature hoagie honor is just the latest in a series of accomplishments for Barkley.
He rushed for 2,000 yards, performed stunts like his backward hurdle, became a Super Bowl champion, made the cover of Madden, and was named the No.1 player on the NFL’s Top 100 Players list.
Now he’s partnering with Wawa to launch “The Saquon,” which celebrates the three-time Pro Bowler’s Philadelphia connections.
The sandwich features oven-roasted turkey, American cheese, lettuce, onions, and spicy mustard.
“My hoagie is mad basic,” Barkley said in a Wawa ad. “That’s what I eat, though. I’ve been going to Wawa since I was 8. It’s just kind of like my snack on the go that you know you can trust and you know it’s going to taste good.”
Last summer, Wawa gave retired Eagle Jason Kelce and his wife, Kylie, their own hoagies, the “Jason” and “Kylie.”
The new sandwich was announced two days before the Eagles’ opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
