Father's Day Rally Committee has launched the Peace Mobile, a 35-foot motor RV that will serve as outreach vehicle for the community.

Philadelphia nonprofit, the Father’s Day Rally Committee, has unveiled a new tool that will hit the streets of Philadelphia in an effort to prevent gun violence and crimes, write Wakisha Bailey and Paxton for CBS News Philadelphia.

The new tool is a 35-foot motor RV, called the Peace Mobile, that has been transformed into a first-of-its-kind outreach vehicle. The mobile unit will provide violence prevention services and trauma counseling to Philadelphia neighborhoods most impacted by gun violence.

“We want to bring hope, healing and resources right to the families who need it most,” said Bilal Qayyum, president of the Father’s Day Rally Committee.

This launch after Camden, New Jersey, recently marked its first summer in decades without a single homicide.

Philadelphia has also been seeing a reduction in homicides, as police are reporting that the numbers are down 16 percent this year while violent crimes are down 5 percent.

Through the Peace Mobile, Philadelphia residents will be getting a new resource hub, counseling space, and community connector.

According to the organization, the Peace Mobile is expected to start hitting the streets later this fall.
