David’s Bridal is getting in on the latest craze, designing wedding gowns for Labubu’s, writes Julia Teti for Womens Wear Daily.
Labubu’s, the plush collectible as seen on TikTok, is taking the world by storm. Now, fans can book appointments to create custom outfits that mirror their own wedding dress.
The King of Prussia company says it’s a playful extension of its commitment to craftsmanship and celebration of love. Couture head Viola Chan has even reinterpreted two of her signature designs in miniature form.
The offerings don’t stop at gowns. Matching bridesmaids’ dresses and accessories can also be ordered. Custom looks start at $50 and bridesmaids’ outfits start at $25. Limited edition Labubu wedding dresses are available now through local David’s Bridal stores.
Labubu was created by Hong Kong artists Kasing Lung and more than $1.4 million TikTok videos feature the character. Celebrities are getting in on the craze – Cher showed off her Labubu at the Tribecca Film Festival earlier this summer.
In recent months, David’s Bridal has introduced AI-driven wedding planners, smaller boutique storefronts, and partnership with men’s clothing lines. Custom Labubu dresses is another example of how the company’s new focus is on the here and now.
