Anticipated SEPTA Cuts Will Be Strongly Felt in Delaware County

A SEPTA Route 115 bus in Haverford Township. That Route will be reduced beginning Aug. 25, 2025.

Delaware County commuters will be deeply affected by anticipated SEPTA service cuts coming Monday, Aug. 25, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.

SEPTA will implement its cuts if it doesn’t receive last-minute state funding to cover a $213 million deficit.

Fares will increase an average of 21.5 percent starting Sept. 1.

On Monday, bus routes 126 going to Lawrence Park in Marple and 120, which goes to Cheyney University, will be eliminated.

Other Delaware County lines will see reduced service. Included are trolley lines running from 69th Street to Media and Sharon Hill, and trolley lines from Darby to Philadelphia.

Service on the Media/Wawa Regional Rail Line is also being reduced starting Sept. 2.

State Sen. Tim Kearney (D-26th District) said the cuts would strand more than 1,000 riders a day.

“The state GOP’s abandonment of SEPTA is going to shrink Delco’s economy and leave many people cut off from jobs and schools,” Kearney said.

State Rep. Craig Williams (R-160th), described SEPTA as an extremely important resource for residents in his area of Delaware County to reach schools and healthcare facilities and completely supports getting SEPTA funded.
