While the advent of AI is making the future of the sector bright yet unpredictable, those seeking employment are able to focus on one key factor in their consideration: pay.

To determine the highest-paying computer and engineering jobs in Philadelphia, Stacker used BLS data from May 2024.

The top paying computer and engineering jobs in the city are database architects, with a median annual wage of $143,110 and a median hourly wage of $68.80. There are 1,200 employed in these roles.

Computer hardware engineers are not far behind in second, as they earn a median annual wage of $139,400 and an hourly wage of $67.02, with 600 employed. Nuclear engineers come third, with median wages of $136,590 annually and $65.67 hourly, and 240 employed.

Actuaries rank fourth, with 910 people earning a median annual wage of $130,750 or an hourly wage of $62.86. Software developers round out the list, earning $130,670 annually or $62.82 hourly, with 26,150 working in Philadelphia.
