Newtown Locals Eager for Wawa’s Coffee, Hoagies and Opening Day

Locals eagerly await news about the grand opening of the new Wawa location in Newtown.

Newtown’s very first Wawa location is causing a stir on social media as locals eagerly wait for an announcement about the official date of the grand opening, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch

The 5,500-square-foot location on the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road will feature a gas station and convenience store.

Prior to this, the nearest Wawa stores were located in Richboro and Yardley. Now, Newtown residents won’t have to travel far to get their morning coffee and hot Sizzli breakfast sandwiches.

This new store will be one of the first Wawas to feature solar panels on the roof of the gas station canopy.

The solar panels are part of an agreement between the developer, Provco Pinegood LLC, and the township. Elen Snyder, the Newtown Township Supervisor, requested that the panels be installed.

The grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony complete with confetti and a special appearance by Wally the Goose. Customers will also be able to enjoy free coffee and see the “Hoagies for Heroes” challenge between first responders.

Hopefully, locals won’t have to wait much longer for an update about the date of the grand opening.
