See which four Delaware County colleges and universities pay six-figure faculty salaries.

Average faculty members commanded six-figure salaries in 2024 at 18 colleges and universities in Greater Philadelphia, including four from Delaware County.

Colleges in the region that had at least 1,000 faculty members paid an average of more than $100,000 annually, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

In Delaware County, Swarthmore College, Villanova University, Delaware County Community College, and Haverford College all made the cut.

The figures are based on a Philadelphia Business Journal analysis of FY24 U.S. Department of Education data for public and private universities.

Swarthmore College, which has a student-faculty ratio of 8-to-1, pays instructional staff an average salary of $131,000. As of fiscal 2024, there were 256 instructional staff members on payroll.

Villanova University’s 769 instructional staff made an average of $123,000. 

Delaware County Community College, with a total of 143  instructional staff, paid $101,374.

At Haverford College, the average instructional staff member earns $100,279. The college has 183 instructional staff members.

By comparison, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania paid on average $93,289, with 35 on staff.

Widener University in Chester paid $86,647, with 276 on staff.
