Botanical Illustrations Exhibit Open Through Jun. 26 at DCCC Art Gallery

Discover exquisite botanical illustrations by the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators on view at Delaware County Community College’s Art Gallery.

The Art Gallery at Delaware County Community College (DCCC) is hosting an exhibit of botanical illustrations showcasing a stunning array of work by artists of the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Exhibitors (PSBI) through June 26, 2025 in the Gallery, located in Room 2305 in the Academic Building on the College’s Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media).

Each year, PSBI members exhibit their work in various showcases throughout the region, including the famed Philadelphia Flower Show. The goal of botanical illustration is to accurately depict the details of plant morphology, color, form, and function for the purpose of scientific study.

A botanical illustration can convey fine detail and provide a vision of the subject that may be lost in more general, less visually discriminating images, such as photographs. In addition, the skillful illustrator arranges the drawing or painting with an eye to creating an artistically pleasing composition and achieves artistic depth and vision.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Art Gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, except for Jun. 19 when the College is closed.
