Penn’s Purchase, the long-vacant retail outlet center across from Peddler’s Village, is set to shed its “eyesore” ghost town label, with redevelopment finally on the horizon, writes Lacey Latch for the Bucks County Courier Times.
For the project, old store buildings will be demolished and replaced with luxury housing and new retail spaces.
The new mixed-use project, known as Village Crossing, comes nearly four years after being approved by Buckingham Township and is currently in the final phase of planning. Construction is expected to start in late spring or early summer.
The redevelopment will include 18 single-family detached homes and 18 condominiums, along with two mixed-use buildings featuring 16,420 square feet of retail and commercial space. An old Victorian home will also be restored and converted into four apartments.
“We will be completely demolishing everything that’s currently there and starting over brand new,” said John McGrath, president of Stonehaven Homes, who bought the property in December 2017 for $3.5 million. “We believe this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to redevelop 14 acres located directly across the street via a push-button crosswalk from Peddler’s Village.”
