Jansen, one of Mount Airy’s top rated restaurants, will be saying goodbye in late September, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
David Jansen, the restaurant’s chef-owner, pointed to economics as one of the factors in his decision to close the restaurant.
“I’ve had 10 great years there, but I could never really generate the revenue that I needed to actually take care of the people that have worked with me for so long,” he said.
With the closure, Jansen will be joining Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill as its executive chef. He will also be bringing executive sous chef Jason Burke and Zachary Bourne, the food-and-beverage manager, alongside him.
Jansen has been a member of Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, and given that he has seen their commitment toward being first-class, he bought into the idea to get more involved. He also noted that he will have control of the menu as its new executive chef.
His arrival will also see him return to the world of large-scale events.
In the days and weeks leading up to Jansen’s closure, Jansen said he will be doing a long farewell.
