Gather Place Museum Launches Inaugural America 250th Community Engagement Kickoff

Gather Place Museum, in conjunction with Experience Yardley, is hosting its inaugural America 250th Community Engagement Kickoff Event—the first-ever held in Bucks county gathering of its kind—on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Yardley Friends Meeting House.

Gather Place Museum in conjunction with Experience Yardley, is happy to host its inaugural America 250th Community Engagement Kickoff Event—the first-ever held in Bucks county gathering of its kind—on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Yardley Friends Meeting House (65 N Main Street, Yardley, PA 19067). This historic, all-community event invites residents locally, countywide, and statewide to come together in an exciting and informative celebration leading up to America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. Free and family-friendly, this event marks the beginning of an inclusive journey toward honoring our nation’s rich history and shared future. 

Supported by Gather Place’s recently awarded America250PA Semiquincentennial Grant and the Bucks County Tourism Grant, this special event marks the launch of Gather Place Museum’s 2026 series, “Gather Place: Celebrating 250 Years of American Resilience ~ in Pursuit of Justice and Equality.” This series will offer a year-long exploration of African American and Women’s history, Quaker heritage, the Underground Railroad, the American Civil War, the Civil Rights Movement, and local history – through first-person portrayals, interactive programs, and hands-on experiences for the whole family. 

Gather Place invites everyone from across Bucks County, the state, and beyond to join  as we celebrate Bucks County, and Pennsylvania’s vital role in America’s 250-year journey. This event will provide an exciting opportunity for the community to come together and kick off this monumental national celebration. 

Gather Place Museum, an America250PA nonprofit affiliate and Bucks250PA participant, is committed to preserving and sharing Yardley Borough and Bucks County’s rich historical and cultural heritage. The museum, housed in the historic African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church of Yardley, serves as a vibrant cultural center that celebrates the contributions of African Americans, Quakers, and women to local, state, and national history. Through the generous support of the America250PA and Bucks County Tourism grants, this event is just the beginning of what promises to be an unforgettable year of history, fun, and community engagement.
