Delaware Valley University will host a screening of The Journey Home, an award-winning documentary that raises awareness about the challenges faced by veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The event, part of DelVal’s Counseling Psychology Spring Speaker Series, will take place on Wednesday, March 19 at 6 PM in the Life Sciences Building Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
Following the screening, co-producer Gary Chilutti will lead a discussion and answer questions about the film’s themes and the healing process for veterans and their families. The Journey Home received a 2024 Impact Doc Award in the Inspirational category. Co-produced by Chilutti and Steven Sonntag, the film highlights the struggles of service members dealing with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and other challenges, while also exploring pathways to recovery.
Chilutti’s company, Films-4-Good, focuses on purpose-driven filmmaking and creative consulting, and each documentary serves as a powerful tool to inform, involve, and inspire. The film was developed in collaboration with The Veterans Brotherhood, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans.
An estimated 22 or more veterans and active-duty service members die by suicide each day. The Journey Home aims to shed light on this crisis and encourage conversations about solutions.
