A Penn Valley couple in their 90s are embarking on a new chapter of life together, a journey that began by chance, reports Dave Edwards for 6abc.
Larry is one of the top 20 percent rated Uber drivers in the United States.
“I am gonna be 91 in four weeks,” he said. “People say ‘Why do you do Uber?’ I say ‘I’m too old to mow lawns.’”
Larry usually listens to Frank Sinatra while driving, singing along as he goes. A friend once suggested he join their glee club, New Horizons – where he met Aileen, who is three months older. They grew close performing at nursing homes, and one day, she asked him for a ride to visit her sister’s grave. He agreed – on the condition they have a date on the way back. And the rest is history.
“He and I are in love,” said Aileen. “He means everything to me. He’s my lover, he’s my sweetheart, he’s my rock.”
“How lucky we both are, that we have each other,” said Larry. “Love is just wanting to be with somebody and do what you can for them. And I’m constantly thinking, what can I do for her?”
