Delaware County Transplants Describe LA Fire Devastation

Video of a house burning in Los Angeles taken by Delaware County transplant Craig Lundberg.

Two former Delaware County residents are eyewitness to the Los Angeles fires currently raging in Los Angeles, reports Chris O’Connell for Fox 29.

Craig Lundberg and John Craig both moved to the Los Angeles area from Delaware County.

Lundberg now lives in Venice, California, a few miles from the Palisades fire.

“The apartment I lived in has burned down. The grocery store I used to go to is burned down,” he said.

The fires, fed by hurricane force winds, has been described as the most destructive in LA County history, with more than a thousand buildings destroyed, consuming more than 22 square miles.

“The speed of the destruction. I just haven’t seen anything like this,” Lundberg said.

Another Delco transplant, John Craig, now lives in Ventura, and is one of a million and a half Californians without power. He was clearing his roof to prevent embers.

“Coming from the East Coast, you know, we brace for hurricanes or a big snowstorm. This is different. This makes you feel like when you see flames, it looks apocalyptic.”

An American Red Cross local chapter is ready to go to California, but so far has not been activated, O’Connell reported.
