Phillies Legend Mike Schmidt’s Former Media Home Sells for $2.9M
Someone has paid $2.995 million for Phillies legend Mike Schmidt’s former mansion in Media Borough, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.
The sales price, reported by Zillow, is 40 percent below its original listing of $4.975 million in April 2023.
The 12,000-square-foot seven bedroom, six and a half bath mansion is off Providence Road at the Springton Reservoir.
Schmidt bought the home in November 1979 for $490,000.
That was a year before the Phillies made it to the World Series Championship.
Schmidt sold the home in 1992 to Rainer Westphal and his wife, Antoinette, founders of Vertex Inc., a King of Prussia tax technology software company.
Since then, the home has been reduced in price several times. The most recent listing was $3.1 million in October, according to Zillow.
The buyer has not been identified. The home sits on 3.4 acres, with a landscaped front yard, a pool, large patio and outdoor entertaining space.
It has a number of inside amenities including three wet bars, a gym, a sauna, a game room, two full kitchens and a large wine cellar.
The French Country-style home was built in 1968.
