Owners Create Forever Ranch Home in Media, Then Life Took a Turn
They put their hearts and craftsmanship into their forever home, a customized contemporary in Media, but now work is taking them in a different direction and this ranch is up for sale, writes Sandy Smith for Philadelphia Magazine.
The stylish “cabin in the woods” is actually in a wooded subdivision on Oak Valley Road in Upper Providence Township below the Crum Creek Reservoir.
The owners added skylights, replaced doors, added large sliding glass doors, reframed windows, replaced the roof, opened up its main floor, redid its kitchen and bathrooms, installed new hardwood floors, and stained the non-floor wood by hand.

Kitchen counters were carved from green quartzite.

There are custom light fixtures mixing industrial, traditional and rustic elements.
The primary bedroom is on the main floor and shares its bathroom with a second bedroom and visiting guests. The lower level has a third bedroom, a full bath and a room that could be a home office or bedroom.

Original owner plans had called for the conversion of the 2-car garage into a new primary bedroom suite.
Despite its “out in the woods” feel, this home is only a mile or so from Media’s lively downtown.
