Ascend Legacy Academy, the first Black boarding school in Delaware that is dedicated to providing an inclusive and supportive environment that prioritizes Black education and experiential learning, has entered a groundbreaking partnership with H&S Construction & Supply, LLC and Line House, LLC.

This collaboration with Line House, LLC will see one of H&S’s historic Underground Railroad properties repurposed as the residential facilities for Ascend Legacy Academy’s students for the 2025-2026 academic year.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in Ascend Legacy Academy’s mission to provide an empowering and transformative education. The use of a property with such profound historical significance aligns perfectly with the Academy’s commitment to experiential learning and cultural empowerment. Students will have the unique opportunity to live and learn in a space that embodies the spirit of resilience and liberation.

“We are incredibly excited about this partnership with H&S Construction & Supply, LLC and Line House, LLC.,” said Dr. Chanel Gaither, the founder of Ascend Legacy Academy and a 2022 VISTA Millennial Superstar. “This historic property will not only serve as a home for our students but also as a living classroom where they can connect with their heritage and draw inspiration from the courageous individuals who once sought freedom through the Underground Railroad.”

H&S Construction, known for its dedication to preserving historical sites, is equally enthusiastic about this collaboration.

“We are honored to support Ascend Legacy Academy in their mission,” said Broderick Harrison, President of H&S Construction. “This partnership allows us to contribute to a cause that values history, education, and the empowerment of future generations.”

The residential facilities will be ready to welcome students at the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative is expected to enhance the educational experience by providing a unique environment that fosters both academic excellence and personal growth.
