Some vintage IKEA furniture buck traditional antique trends with impressive resale price tags across different sites.

Typically, heirloom furniture refers to decades-old antiques, but some vintage IKEA furniture proves to be just as valuable, writes Dawn Allcot for MSN.

For instance, the VILBERT Chair (1994), designed by Danish icon Verner Panton, was a limited release with only 4,000 units made. Today, this colorful and modern piece is highly collectible, selling for $1,018 on Billy.forsale.

The Poem Leather Sofa from the 1980s, a sleek design by Noboru Nakamura, exemplifies IKEA’s commitment to style and function. This three-seat classic now commands $3,105 on Chairish.com.

Even shelving systems like the Enetri (2000s), designed by Niels Gammelgaard, hold value. Despite being made of veneered chipboard and metal, its craftsmanship and durability have boosted its worth to $1,729.

The Signatur Executive Desk (1980s) by Tord Bjorklund, with its honey oak frame and chrome detailing, is another example. This postmodern piece currently lists for $2,600.

Finally, the rattan Storvik Lounge Chair (2000s), designed by Carl Ojerstam, has become a rarity due to its limited run and fragile material. If intact, it can sell for over $2,300.

Lisa van Steenbergen, co-founder of Furnituren, credits IKEA’s timeless, functional designs for their enduring appeal. So, if you have vintage IKEA pieces, it might be time to cash in on their surprising value.
