Delco Proud: 2 Suburbs Make Top 100 List of Best Places to Live in US

Two Delaware County suburban communities placed in the top 100 ranking of 2023 Best Suburbs to Live in America, as compiled by Niche.com

Swarthmore Borough, which has made other best-of lists, came in at No. 13.

Niche has already ranked Swarthmore, with a population of 6,318, as the No. 1 best place to live in Delaware County and names it as one of the best places to live in Pennsylvania.

In this latest ranking, it received an A+ for public schools and for raising families and an A for outdoor activities, health and fitness, and commuting.   

The borough took an A- for crime and safety, jobs, housing, and nightlife.

Coming in further down, but still making the top 100 was Nether Providence, population 13,767, ranking at No. 71.

Niche declared Nether Providence as the No. 2 Best Place to live in Delaware County.

It received an A+ for public schools and raising families, an A for outdoor activities and health and fitness.  It earned an A- for housing and nightlife.

Results are based on crime rates, quality of public schools, cost of living, job opportunities, and local amenities.

The ranking data comes from the U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, CDC and other sources.
