Delaware County is home to several historical markers, part of a network of 2,500 plaques and markers in place around Pennsylvania placed there by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

The original 1724 Chester County Court House in Chester is still used as a government building.
The second-oldest log cabin in America is in Clifton Heights, built sometime between 1640 and 1650.
Caroline Burnham Kilgore got a marker in Springfield, as an early advocate for women’s suffrage who fought for women to practice law.
The Nile Swim Club in Yeadon is the first private swim club in the nation owned by Blacks. It was founded in 1959 by three families who were denied membership at an existing local swim club.
Viscose Village in Marcus Hook housed women who worked at the nearby American Viscose Company’s plant, the first in North America to produce the artificial fiber, rayon.
The Slinky was invented and initially manufactured in Clifton Heights by Richard James in 1943. His wife Betty would later lift the company out of bankruptcy and turn it into a worldwide distributor of toys.
