DCCC Students from Chester County Host Screening of Their Documentary Nov. 23 at Downingtown Library
On Nov. 23 at 12:00 PM, the Beta Psi Pi chapter of Delaware County Community College’s (DCCC) Phi Theta Kappa honor society will host a screening of its student-produced documentary, Unspoken Journeys: Stories of Perseverance and Sorrow at the Downingtown Library (122 Wallace Ave, Downingtown).
Produced by six DCCC students from Chester County who are Beta Psi Pi members, the documentary features the experiences of DCCC’s faculty and students, as well as residents of Malvern’s Sunrise Senior Living facility. The participants share personal stories of overcoming illness, homelessness, and grief.
This project fulfills Phi Theta Kappa’s community service component which helps students become more civically minded and focused on tackling societal issues. The showing is open to the public and the documentary is 51 minutes long. The Student Filmmakers are Brooke Weiss of Downingtown; Yegna Samvida Rangavajhala of Exton; Natalia Rodriquez Lopez of West Chester; Liz Mercadante of Exton; Ellen Carlino of Phoenixville; Jairo Avalos Tenorio of West Chester; Brandon Bailey of Devon, and Raymond Ricard Porras of Berwyn.
