Harcum College Launches Peer Support Program for Students in Recovery with IBX Foundation Grant
The Independence Blue Cross (IBX) Foundation awarded Harcum College a grant to establish a peer support program for students in recovery from substance use and/or mental health conditions.
The program encourages an inclusive environment where students who identify as being in recovery can build community and access resources to promote their success and well-being.
A key component of the program is its partnership with degree programs to provide educational and professional opportunities for students who wish to explore a career in the addiction and mental health fields. It will also offer ways for the entire Harcum community to get involved in recovery awareness and service.
Molly Treangen joined Harcum this summer as the Collegiate Recovery Program Coordinator. In August, Treangen and Kathy Anthony, Director of Counseling Services, attended the seventh annual CRP conference at St. Joseph’s University. This was Treangen’s first attendance, but Anthony attended in previous years. The event featured speakers from field experts and other institutions in the area who have successfully built their programs.
Stay tuned for the launch of a campus-wide CRP survey, as well as updates about events and ways to get involved. To learn more, visit the Campus Recovery Program webpage. If you want to talk to someone on campus to get more information/support, please contact Treangen at 610-526-6065 or mtreangen@harcum.edu.
