Former East Passyunk Restaurant Is Being Revived in Wallingford
Lee Styer and Jessie Prawlucki Styer have decided to revive their East Passyunk restaurant Fond in Wallingford, just three miles from their house, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The elegant BYOB opened in 2009 but was forced to close in late 2021 due to the pandemic. Now, they have decided to bring the popular eatery back, a half-hour away from its original location.
On September 30, the Styers, who moved to Delaware County three years ago, took the keys to La Cannelle Cafe in Wallingford.
The restaurant will operate as La Cannelle for two weeks before it transitions to the Fond name and the French-influenced American menu it was famous for.
The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner and will remain a BYOB.
The space is about the same size as the previous location, with 40 available seats. There is also a large patio and plenty of parking.
The owners met two decades ago while they were both students at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. They then worked together for Georges Perrier at Le Bec-Fin before they decided to open their own restaurant.
