At American Community Journals (ACJ), we recognize that reaching a decade of success is a milestone built on the hard work, passion, and dedication of our talented team. We’re thrilled to not only be celebrating our 10th anniversary — but also celebrating the people who have helped us deliver uplifting stories across the Delaware Valley over the last decade.
Today, we’re shining a light on Steve Knickerbocker, Senior Vice President of Business Development. Steve has been instrumental in driving ACJ’s growth, leading our Affiliate Partner program, and building lasting relationships that continue to strengthen Philadelphia’s business community.
Background Information: What To Know About Steve
Name: Steve Knickerbocker
Title: Senior Vice President, Business Development
Hometown: Exton
Years at ACJ: 5.5
First Role at ACJ
I joined ACJ as the VP of Development in 2019, where I led our Affiliate Partner program, helping partners with content marketing deliverables and overseeing seamless onboarding. I also was a stakeholder on the team that developed and created the VISTA Millennial Superstars (now VISTA NextGen Superstars) event.
Current Role
As SVP of Business Development, I now lead an expanded business development team, supporting members and driving the growth of ACJ’s Affiliate Partner program alongside the success of our affiliate partners. I also continue to drive development for the VISTA NextGen Superstars event presented each year by Penn State Great Valley.
Favorite Part of the Job
I’ve enjoyed witnessing the success of our affiliate partners as they share their stories across our platforms. I love seeing Philadelphia-area businesses and organizations — banks, educational institutions, law firms, nonprofits, and more — achieve remarkable results through organic content marketing, boosting their profiles, and connecting with local communities.
What He Loves Most About Working at ACJ
Working with a diverse team of people who are passionate about our mission and always collaborating to constantly refine ACJ’s focus and reach is what I find most rewarding.
Proudest Achievement
My proudest achievement is playing an impactful part in the growth of ACJ’s Affiliate Partner client base, which expanded from around 30 partners when I first came aboard in 2019 to over 120 today. I also have to acknowledge this would not have been remotely possible without the collective efforts of the entire ACJ team, especially our editorial team; the work they put in every day to find those positive, upbeat stories that celebrate why this region is such a great place to live, work, and play drive the incredible growth of our pageviews and is central and essential to our success.
Biggest Impact on the Community
Recently, I spoke with an Executive Director of a Chester County nonprofit who shared how their partnership with ACJ helped them overcome financial struggles. Over the past five years, they went from limited awareness and month-to-month survival to a strong financial position and heightened community recognition that they attribute directly to their partnership with ACJ.
Most Memorable Moment
My most memorable moment was the first VISTA Millennial Superstars event in 2020, a heartfelt occasion filled with joy, tears, and gratitude as honorees shared stories of the superstars in their own lives. The warmth of that event still resonates with me today.
