Malvern Contestant Captures Audience Attention and Hearts on ‘Golden Bachelorette’
During The Golden Bachelorette series premiere, a retired data analyst from Malvern managed to capture both the attention and hearts of the audience, writes Franki Rudnesky for the PhillyVoice.
The 66-year-old Charles L. made his debut during this week’s episode of the dating show spinoff. He hit it off with lead Joan Vassos as they shared tea and jokes.
His sweet demeanor and unrestrained awe of the Bachelor Mansion set earned him many fans on social media. They were especially overjoyed when he received a rose securing his place on the show for another week.
The episode began on a sad note, as the golden bachelorette explained how she lost her husband of 33 years to pancreatic cancer. Many of the contestants vying for her heart had similar stories of losing their partners, including Charles.
The Malvern resident lost his wife, who he described as his “first and only love,” six years ago. He admitted that he has been lonely since then and it was his daughters who encouraged him to try and find love again.
“I hope that Joan will know that I am very honest, nice, humorous, and if I can brag to say, pretty handsome,” he said.
