Although the SpaceX launch happened in Cape Canaveral, Florida, it was visible hundreds of miles away in Chester County, writes Joe Brandt for CBS News Philadelphia

Those who were up early on Tuesday morning reported seeing a “streak of white light moving across the sky.” The white light was the launch that sent four civilians into space.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was sent into space by the Polaris Dawn mission at 5:23 AM on Sept. 10.

Local Phoenixville man John Gajewski sent in a video showing the rocket’s overhead to CBS News

Lehigh Valley tech company founder Jared Isaacman was one of the four civilians to be sent into space on the rocket. His business, Shift4, is headquartered in Center Valley, Lehigh County

Isaacman and his crewmates Sarah Gillis, Scott Poteet, and Anna Menon are striving to set a record for the highest altitude recorded since the famous Apollo missions. The group will be the first to take part in the first spacewalk by a commercial spacefaring venture.
