An annual ranking of America’s Best Places to Make a Purchase includes five convenience stores, with Wawa ranked 2nd in the group.
Newsweek and Statista joined forces to rank the 200 best retail places, surveying 7,000 shoppers between February and March covering 40 industries, reports NACS Magazine.
The top three to 10 retailers that had the highest scores in each category were awarded as America’s Best Retailers 2024.
In the convenience store category, Buc-ee’s came out on top, with a score of 94.37. Wawa was second, with 90.86. Quik Trip was third, scoring 89.6. Sheetz placed fourth, with a score of 88.9. and Love’s placed fifth, with a score of 86.9.
Participants were asked how likely they are to recommend a retailer and to give opinions on prices, selection and atmosphere. Customer service and accessibility were also considered.
Fifty percent of the score was based on the likelihood of recommendation, with the other 50 percent based on evaluation of the different criteria.
Companies recognized in the rankings stand above “for offering an outstanding shopping experience that resonates with customers,” according to Newsweek.
In 2020, Wawa ranked 2nd in the nation for best convenient store by Food & Wine Magazine.
