First Bank House of the Week: Carriage House in Wallingford

This Wallingford carriage house is available for sale.

The Conny Meade Wallingford carriage house and stable were built in 1902. Originally, the northern third of the building was a stable. Three of the original stall dividers crafted in iron with solid brass finials remain within the living space.

The entrance to this unique home is centered in the rounded three-story turret. It opens into a cozy sitting room which has a large stone fireplace. To the left are the original carriage doors that lead to a large unfinished storage room.

Other highlights of the property include a spacious kitchen connecting two sides of the building with access to the rear yard and inground pool, a breakfast room with built-in cabinets, and a huge dining and entertaining space.

The turret bedroom is truly special with custom curved bookshelves crafted around the windows.

There is also a massive loft area under the main roof and a cupola.

Outside is just as impressive with perennial beds surrounding the front and side yards and a large covered portico over the carriage bay entry.
