A new Netflix series inspired by a Philadelphia’s Main Line murder during the late 1970s is currently in the early development stage, writes Matt Grobar for Deadline.

The new series is being written and executive produced by Andrew Sodroski and Aggregate Films.

The story takes place during the early hours of June 25, 1979, when the affluent Main Line area of Philadelphia was shaken up by the brutal murder of English teacher Susan Reinert.

The case became one of the most infamous in the history of the region.

It began when Reinert’s naked body was discovered stuffed in the trunk of her car in a motel parking lot in Harrisburg. Her children, Karen and Michael, were missing and presumed dead. However, their bodies have still never been found to this day.

The shocking nature of the murders quickly captivated the public and drew intense media scrutiny.

Furthermore, it highlighted significant flaws in the criminal justice system, including issues of evidence handling and prosecutorial ethics.
