Delaware County Golf Courses Make the Grade in Pennsylvania

Merion Golf Club's East Course in Ardmore made Golfweek Magazine's best course rankings.

Some of Pennsylvania’s best public and private golf courses can be found in Delaware County, according to a new rankings list by Golfweek Magazine.

Public access courses are for public use, whether it’s through standard daily green fees, through a resort, or by staying at an affiliated hotel. No membership is required, writes Jason Lusk for Golfweek Magazine.

Private courses are through memberships only.

Among Pennsylvania’s public courses, the Golf Course at Glen Mills, built sometime after 1960, was ranked third out of a list of 10.

Among Pennsylvania’s private courses, Merion Golf Club in Haverford Township, the East Course, built prior to 1960, ranked second on a list of 20 courses.

It is considered by Golfweek to be the seventh best course in the U.S.

The course at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square ranked 5th on a list of 20. The classic course built before 1960 is also ranked as the 64th best in the nation.

The course at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield ranked 11th on a list of 20. The classic course built before 1960 is also ranked as the 25th best in the nation.
