DCCC student Michelle Stover of Spring City has been awarded a $5,000 Dunkin’ Scholarship.

Michelle Stover of Spring City is a mother of four sons, a hair salon owner, a college student — and a winner of a 2024 Dunkin’ Philadelphia Regional Scholarship.

The Delaware County Community College (DCCC) student is one of 20 students selected from over 1,260 applicants to receive $5,000 to support the pursuit of part-time or full-time undergraduate degrees at accredited colleges, universities, or vocational-technical schools. Students were selected based on their academic record, demonstrated leadership, and proven commitment to their school and local community.

Stover’s strong academic standing resulted in an invitation to join DCCC’s Beta Psi Pi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, and in the spring of 2024, she was named to the College’s President’s List.

“It has been over 20 years since I graduated from high school, so I was initially intimidated to go back to school,” said the Communication Studies major. “After touring the DCCC campus and observing the age diversity among the College’s students, I felt reassured that it is never too late to return!”

She added, “I have always respected community colleges, and it was important to me to get a quality education at a price point that fit my budget.”

Stover has for the past 10 years owned and operated a hair salon in Phoenixville.

“Although I love my career and am passionate about my industry, I am looking for a new challenge upon graduation. I hope to someday work in a corporate setting where I can enjoy a traditional work schedule, receive paid time off, and save for retirement. It is important to me to find a career that challenges me and provides benefits that will affect my future in positive ways. I am most proud of the example I am setting for my boys — that it is never too late to pursue your dreams, and that with hard work you can achieve anything you set your mind to!”
