This Chadds Ford Jewel, Windmill Hollow Manor, Is for Sale at $20 Million
Take a look at one of Chadds Ford’s’ most beautiful properties, Windmill Hollow Manor, overlooking meadows, rolling hills, and the Brandywine River.
This 17th-century Cotswold-style manor has stables, gardens, a pool house and 188 acres of land, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.
The manor was actually built in 1997-98, but was modeled after the 13th century Buckland Manor in England, designed with selected materials to look like a house lovingly maintained for 400 years.
There are 300-year-old slates on the roof and authentic Cotswold leaded glass casement windows. The rooms were designed in Elizabethan, Jacobean, Georgian and Regency style, using antique doors, furniture and flooring.
Inside are 10 bathrooms and six bedrooms, a newly-designed kitchen as of 2017, dual staircases, a wine cellar, attic, basement gym, steam room, library, dining room, mud room, and a full-scale English basement pub, with a pool table, pizza oven, comfortable seating and stone walls.
Each room has its own charm and individual characteristics.
The grounds have spectacular gardens, some designed by Rosemary Verey, with help from William Frederick.
The gardens have been maintained for 25 years by the owner.
Windmill Hollow Manor is available for sale at $20 million.
