As we reach the six-month mark of 2024 and the beginning of the third quarter, it’s the perfect time to review and refocus on your goals for this year. A mid-year check-in is essential for staying on track and making necessary adjustments to ensure your success.
Paul J. Meyer famously said, “If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten!” To change your results, you must change your behavior and habits. This statement is particularly relevant for those who strive for growth and improvement. The only way to see different results is to change “what you’ve always done.”
Focus on the habit with the most leverage — the one habit that is the weak link in your chain. Often, this is the task you least enjoy doing. Naturally, we tend to avoid tasks we dislike and gravitate toward those we find more comfortable. However, your success hinges on improving and changing the key habit that you are weakest at and dislike the most.
During a recent goal-setting workshop with my clients, we discussed several ways that the group decided to refocus their energy for the remainder of the year:
- Reevaluate: Identify the single most impactful change you can make that will positively affect all other areas of your business. This change should address the weak link in your current processes and lead to significant improvements.
- Simplify and Delegate: Determine which processes you can simplify, eliminate, delegate, or outsource. By doing so, you free up more time and energy to focus on high-payoff activities that drive your business forward.
- Plan Regularly: Time spent planning is essential. Prioritize time each day to plan your day, week, month, and the rest of the year. Effective planning ensures that you stay on track and make consistent progress toward your goals.
Take advantage of this “halftime” week to reflect on your goals. Identify the key habit or behavior you need to improve and master to grow your business. Your success will be determined by your focus on this first domino. Great focus equals great success. By concentrating your efforts on this critical area, you can create a chain reaction that will propel your business forward.
Remember, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. One behavior or habit stands between you and phenomenal success. Use this mid-year check-in to take that crucial first step, and watch your business thrive in the coming months. Learn more at Achievable.com.
