Crozer Health Loses Radiology Services but Finds Another Partner

Crozer Health operations are being supported after March 14 by funds given by The Foundation for Delaware County, but that money is expected to run out in two weeks.

Crozer Health is losing its longtime radiology partner, Southeast Radiology Limited, after it terminated its agreement with the Delaware County hospital system, writes Kenny Cooper for WHYY.

Southeast Radiology Limited has been a 40-year partner but notified Crozer Health in March it would terminate its agreement at the end of June.

Southeast’s Vein Center at Brinton Lake is closing its doors due to “financial pressures and declining reimbursements compounded by a workforce shortage.”

Crozer spokesperson Lori Bookbinder said they have already found another group to provide radiology coverage starting in July. The next partner was not identified.

“There will be no interruption in services,” Bookbinder said.

A radiology department provides medical imaging, such as X-rays and MRIs to help diagnose and treat internal injuries and illnesses.

Southeast also had an intervention radiological service division at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital that provided regional cancer therapy.

Crozer Health’s parent company, Prospect Medical Holdings is in the process of trying to sell its Crozer assets.

That comes from a court-approved agreement to sell Crozer to a nonprofit during litigation over the closing of Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
