When the Heat Is On, You’re Going to Need a Delaware County Ice Cream Fix
The heat is definitely with us this weekend so now’s a good time to familiarize yourself with the best Delaware County ice cream shops around.
There’s plenty to choose from in the Philadelphia region, but if you don’t’ want to travel too far from home, here are a few shops you’ll find in or near Delaware County, writes Laura Swartz for Philadelphia Magazine.
Koffmeyer’s in Havertown is a longtime Society Hill cookie bakery that moved to the suburbs in 2011. Pennsylvania-made Leiby’s ice cream was added to the menu at the same time as an extra enticement.
Hope’s Cookies in Rosemont also specializes in cookies but mixes it up with ice cream sandwiches made with Delaware Valley-based Nelson’s and Jack & Jill ice creams, available in many combinations.
Crave Creamery in Springfield stocks a range of gelato flavors along with hard ice cream, water ice, bubble tea, and vegan ice cream. It’s available by the scoop or in returnable logo quart jars, with a dollar off your refill.
Lu & Aug’s in Ardmore is a soft-serve neighborhood favorite since opening last year. There are classic cups and cones, but also more wild combinations of mixed, folded and blended in toppings.
