Seven athletes from across Pennsylvania have qualified for the Paris Summer Olympic Games, as Team USA continues to form, writes Nicole Rosenthal for Patch.
Two of those athletes are from Chester County.
The county will be represented amongst the 10,500 athletes from around the world who are set to compete this summer, in the official Games of the XXXIII Olympiad. The opening ceremony is on July 26 and the closing ceremony is on Aug. 11.
While viewers will see the usual sports, such as gymnastics, swimming, track and field, golf, boxing, and tennis – they will also get a chance to see one new sport, called breaking. Breaking is described as a “young, acrobatic, and urban sport” by the Olympics.
Three sports, which debuted in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, will be back for a second time this year – sport climbing, skateboarding, and surfing.
The two talented Chester County athletes are Justin Best, a 2020 Olympian from Kennett Square who will compete in Rowing, and Ivan Puskovitch from West Chester will compete in Swimming.
The full schedule of events and competitions can be found on the official Olympics website.
