The hard-earned reputation that Firstrust Bank has for treating its customers well starts with the way it treats its employees.

After all, they’re the most important assets the bank has for serving its customers. One might even say that Firstrust employees are like a family, which seems appropriate for a 90-year-old, family-owned enterprise.

As an illustration of how well it treats its employees, Firstrust Bank has been recognized by both USA Today and The Philadelphia Inquirer as a Top Workplace for 2024.

USA Today’s Top Workplaces award celebrates nationally recognized companies that make the world a better place to work by prioritizing a people-centered culture and giving employees a voice. Likewise, The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Top Workplaces award lauds the employers that do well in the eyes of their employees.

Both publications’ awards are based entirely on feedback from an employee engagement survey completed by the employees of participating workplaces. The survey is administered by Exton-based Energage and given to employees, who are the sole deciders of whether a company culture merits recognition.

This survey covers various aspects of job satisfaction and organizational health and dives into critical workplace elements such as alignment, execution, and connection. Employees’ responses are then compared against national benchmarks established from more than 27 million survey results across the U.S.

This extensive data allows for precise evaluation, ensuring that the awards reflect true excellence in workplace culture.

The criteria for participation are strict, requiring a minimum response rate from employees, which varies based on the size of the company. This methodology ensures that the results are representative and that the recognized organizations truly excel in creating a supportive and fulfilling work environment. The rankings provide invaluable insights for companies aiming to improve their workplace culture and for job seekers looking for employers who value their workforce.

According to survey results, Firstrust Bank employees highlighted these areas of satisfaction:

  1. I believe Firstrust is going in the right direction.
  2. Firstrust operates by strong values.
  3. My manager cares about my concerns.

“I think Firstrust attracts a different kind of person, someone who’s more invested in the long view,” said Richard J. Green, Executive Chairman and Owner. “Those people who believe they can build something meaningful, something that’s made to last, and if you do a good job and trust the leadership, you’ll have a great career and be rewarded.”

In today’s job market, the emphasis on recruitment, retention, and employee motivation is stronger than ever. Energage CEO Eric Rubino emphasized the need for companies to consciously cultivate a culture that values and recognizes employees.

“We really need workplaces that inspire employees,” he said. “You have to really acknowledge employees genuinely and consistently.”
