Tour ‘N Travel in Ridley Is Checking Out After 54 Years

Sharing memories at Tour 'N Travel are (from left) Kevin Moreno, his mother Evelyn Moreno, Tour 'N Travel founder; Debbie Liberatore, Tour 'N Travel current owner and her husband Ron Liberatore.

A marquee on MacDade Blvd. in Woodlyn tantalizes passers-by, promoting trips to the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Disney World.

It belongs to Tour ‘N Travel in Ridley, an agency serving generations of vacationers for more than five decades, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

With so much travel handled online these days, Tour ‘N Travel may be one of the last storefront travel agencies in the area.

It’s also one of the last family businesses on MacDade Blvd. continually owned by the same original family.

Now, the owners are retiring. The travel agency is closing its doors today.

“I couldn’t have chosen a better career or have been in any other business that I enjoyed more,” said owner Debbie Liberatore of Folsom.

Liberatore’s parents, Evelyn and John Moreno of Media opened Tour ‘N Travel in 1969 after renovating a four-bedroom home on MacDade Blvd. in Ridley.

Evelyn continued to run the business after John passed away in 1996, assisted by daughter Debbie Liberatore, who had worked there since she was 16 while still a Penncrest High student.

In 2000, Evelyn retired, and Liberatore became the new owner.

Find out about Liberatore’s experiences running Tour ‘N Travel for so many years in the Daily Times.
