Developer Shares Vision for Neshaminy Mall’s New Era
As Bensalem’s Neshaminy Mall hits the market amid decreased foot traffic and increased retail vacancies, one developer has a vision on how to boost its popularity, writes JD Mullane for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Fusion Gyms founder Tony Chowdhary bought the mall’s former Macy’s to open his state-of-the-art fitness facility. He says that he isn’t worried about the mall being up sale.
He tells the Bucks County Courier Times that people are looking for convenience in their shopping experience, and malls can be a hassle.
He says that to draw more foot traffic, malls must be reconfigured. Make it easy and people will come,” he said.
Turning the storefronts outward, like Pottstown’s former Coventry Mall, now known as “The Shoppes at Coventry,” could attract more shoppers, he said.
He also emphasized the necessity of mall anchors, such as Fusion Gym or movie theaters that drive visits by serving as an experience for shoppers.
